My 21st Birthday
I finally turned 21!!! Two of my girlfriends and I trekked to whistler for our second year in a row to celebrate!
Whistler is such a spectacular village to sip, shop and ski! Upon arriving we slathered on a fresh layer of St. Tropez self tanner and cracked open a bottle of cheap wine! I was so excited to finally wear my Bless'd are the Meek dress shopbop.com which I ended having to pin in the middle to save my dignity later on in the night.
We had a delicious Italian dinner at the Trattoria di Umberto where I was mistaken for Taylor momsen (I don't see it) although I have always been a big fan.
We then walked over to my favourite place in whistler Barefoot bistro (cobble streets and heels never a good idea) where I sabered a bottle of champagne and had a clean cut!
Champagne sabering originated during the height of Napoleon's reign on the eve of war. There were drinks flowing and one thing led to another and Napoleon took the top of a champagne bottle clean off with his sword. They went on to win the battle and believed that the clean cut brought them victory! From that battle on generals would ceremonially open champagne bottles with their swords and if the bottle did not break he would wear the cork on their lapel to reinforce their victory. But if the bottle was not opened correctly it was interpreted as a bad omen, so they would throw aarty to celebrate their last day on earth.
After my first sabering experience at Barefoot Bistro bringing in such an amazing year I absolutely had to go back and usher in another beautiful year!
